Aladdin

First Family Entertainment
10 Dec 10 to 02 Jan 11
Liverpool Empire Theatre

Aladdin will be doing all he can to win the heart of the beautiful Princess, but the evil Abanazar will be trying to thwart his plans. With all your favourite characters including Wishee Washee, the Emperor, Chinese Policeman, and of course, the ultimate pantomime dame - Widow Twankey.

Pamela Anderson... on stage for a total of 15 minutes of the two and three quarter hour show... she cuts a kittenish dash... delivers a nice line in self-deprecation... one or two places where she tends to gabble her lines... lengthy running time... Les Dennis who may get most of the groansome gags (and there are a lot which fall flat, especially in the first half)... keeps it all together with consummate skill... Mark Moraghan makes a great baddie... The real stand-out star of the show however has to be Irishman Sean Kearns as a towering Widow Twanky... Terry Parsons’ sumptuous series of sets which help give this Aladdin a feeling of festive gloss and quality.
Liverpool Echo
...a set and costumes designed by Terry Parsons that glitter at every twirl... some slick performances... stalwarts Les Dennis as Wishee Washee and Mark Moraghan as an Abanazar nasty enough to receive the requisite boos in abundance, who are the real engine that drives the show... Occasionally the live orchestra threatens to drown out the actors... wonderful effects, song and dance routines that are truly outstanding
The Stage
Although [Pamela Anderson's] part is minimal her presence on stage, clad in a sparkly red swimsuit, showing off her impossibly perfect body, has maximum impact... magnificent cast that has all ages in stitches... Sean Kearns, is a brilliant dame... Every panto has to have a villain and Mark Moraghan does his role, Abanazar, proud... Conleth Kane whose energy is totally engaging...
