Brick Up: The Wirral Strikes Back

Nicky Allt
07 Sep 10 to 18 Sep 10
Liverpool Empire Theatre

A new tale set after the Mersey tunnels have been bricked up and the Runcorn bridge blown up – Leaving the Wirral stranded and isolated. Without any link to Liverpool - the Wirral peninsular and the “wirrilians” (were all aliens) are forced to adapt to a new way of life.

The set by Andy Edwards was cleverly split into two halves... the “comedy” factor was so departed from comedy it was embarrassing. The acting was inept... the whole show was a disaster from start to finish...
The Public Reviews (Rating: 2/5)
...poor lighting, dodgy sound, clunky scene changes and two-dimensional caricatures make Brick Up - The Wirral Strikes Back a play that can only be described as deeply disappointing... the sound makes much of what is being said and sung indecipherable... the lighting fails to spotlight actors, or is so out of sync with the action the audience gets lost... Kris Mochrie as Ben exhibits his undoubted comic talents with two beautifully-crafted parodies. Emma Nowell as Anthea all but steals the show...
