Private Lives arrives in Oldham and Manchester

Noel Coward's classic play, Private Lives last seen at the Library Theatre a couple of years ago is now set to hit the region again in two different productions at Oldham's Coliseum later this month and at Manchester's Royal Exchange in February.
What's On Stage

The pitch perfect performers work incredibly hard to bring this delightful piece to life... the set at the Coliseum is a credit to the designer Michael Holt... [James] Simmons and [Jackie] Morrison in particular have a great chemistry... Acted with panache and class and expertly directed by Robert Herford...
What's On Stage (Rating: 5/5)
...[James] Simmons never seems to get to grips with the real acid wit of Coward's dialogue... Jackie Morrison inhabits the smooth, sophisticated but rather unstable Amanda's character rather more successfully, supported very ably by Christopher Naylor... Michael Holt has designed a set that works very smoothly in a practical sense... but a few corners seem to have been cut in the construction... there are some moments, particularly after the interval, that are rather dull...while it is certainly enjoyable at times, this production just doesn't seem to be as much fun as it should be.
British Theatre Guide
...beautifully realised by designer Michael Holt... Jackie Morrison gives a highly polished performance as Amanda... Christopher Naylor gives a good account of himself... Robin Herford’s splendid revival...
